Referendum - too close to call?

Common sense prevailed?

Or they bottled it?

mixture of both mate.

Here Kayos mate, WE'RE BETTER TOGETHER, for the next 100 years atleast anyways:D.:p

Would of been interesting to see how things would of panned out like.

Right now, let's get me next trip to eyemouth sorted.

I think the undecided are really just not telling the pollsters. I think 53% No, 47% yes or even as low as a 43% yes, with no 57%. I am convinced it will be a No.

PS Not the Tweed, it would screw up the Elite's salmon fishing! :)

You heard it first here guys, I was pretty much spot on with my prediction Yes-45%, No- 55%. If the powers that be had given me just one of the tens of millions of pounds they spent on the campaign, I could have told them the result and saved all this palaver! :)

PS We bottled it Gary!

On the plus side I can now apply to renew my passport and I might, while I'm at it, take advantage of the boost in the pound today and go and get some Zlotys for our trip to Gdansk in April.

£1 = 5.35PLN, result! :)

And now Salmond has resigned, it has not been a good day North of the border!!

Still onwards and upwards, there is still fishing and Poland to look forward too. Life goes on!

Think Lynn and I will get full tonight, one bottle of wine guzzled already!! :(

Mate, the referendum came about not because of Salmond, but because the people of Scotland voted the SNP into a majority government at the last Scottish generral election 2 years ago. This was a major achievement as the the Scottish Parliament was designed to avoid any one party gaining overall control, but rather a consensus/coalition government, yet so strong was the SNP vote they won a majority anyway.

With the SNP winning an overall majority they passed a mandate to ask for a referendum. The UK government agreed to it, they could have said no, as they were constitutionally able to do. However the parliament in London, Labour, Tories, LibDems et al agreed to a referendum, so please don't try to blame Salmond, or Scotland!

He has not baled out either. The Scots decided on a no vote, so he has taken the admirable decision to step aside and allow another SNP MSP to be First Minister and take the cause forward. He will of course remain an MSP and take a full role in the Scottish Parliament. :)

Who next ? George galloway ?
God help us.

Too much if a grey area for most hard working scots to make the jump for independence mate... Too many worries about the economy etc. I think some of the yes votes are protest votes against the coalition government in London (not a bad thing!) salmond was always going to go if they failed as that's just what politicians do.... Nowt to do with spitting a dummy. He gave his entire political career to give it a go... Failed, so took a decent way out. The public have spoken. Well fought just not quite the answer he had hoped for. Welcome back Bonney Scotland!!!!

Watched the thing through the night and it was interesting to hear that the so called political experts reckoned that salmonds downfall was his success.
it's been a good democratic exercise, now everyone's jumping on the band wagon including the northeast, we may even get the A1 sorted:D

Well maybe not the A1, but federalism is coming and no bad thing either. One day the North of England will come to appreciate what the Scots did on Thursday, as it will be the watershed for more powers being devolved to the English regions.

Yes, it all sounds good but Westminster won't let go easily, self preservation and all that.
