hi,
i'm cant quite understand what the rod capacity means...im looking to get a new carp rod and the capacity is 2.75lbs, what roughly would be the biggest carp you could get on that rod without it snapping?

thats a laugh!

for greys prodigy carp rods, I'd reckon about 2lb is the biggest fish!

had 3 broke 3

first one pollock about 1lb tip section shatterd at the first ring

second on, pollock a bit bigger, tip section snapped at the joint

third one fish about pound and a half tip section shattered about a foot from the end

can't even be bothered taking them back for replacement anymore, don't see the point

Rod capacity or test curve is an indication of the power in the rod.The smaller the number the smaller the fish(within reason)eg
tench and barbel rods might be 1.25 up to 2lb t.c.I think that is the amount of dead weight it needs to bend it to its optimum strength.Carp and pike rods go 2 to 3lbs t.c.
some ponds or lakes with MONSTER(50lbs+) carp in do not let you fish with less than 3lb rods.
Hope that helps a bit. :o ;)

Maybe a wrong choice of links to post :D

for carp i would reccomend 21/2 test curve what the test curve means is the weight to pull the rod tip round 90 degrees the higher the the test curve the more powerfull the rod an of course you would use a landing net cos if you did try an lift a 10lb it would shatter also the higher test the more wieght you can cast this comes in to play if you fancy doing sum piking cos then you have to cast a deadbait an your sinker then i use 3lb tc
