Ross and Brand

Well as long as our small part of their fees, paid for via our cash,is being used for quality broadcasting why should we worry.

confirmation if you needed it that Great Britain is a nation of losers

And would you consider yourself in that description our is that you understand so much more about this island then us other "losers".
I wonder what the reaction of those people that see little wrong with this act if it had been two CHAVs in a call box at the end of the road screaming abuse onto thier answer phone about their daughter or wives.
A little different i suspect

Not everyone thinks it is wrong but believe you me I see every day what Chavs or whatever get away with that they wouldn't have 10 or 12 years ago. Prisons are full so we let the day to day vermin walk the streets making life utter misery for those around them.

I'm no prude and don't think that slagging someone in that way is comedy but like has been said I didn't hear it until it made media coverage as it has. I still think that Brand has been paid far too much for nowt. Ross even in my opinion can be a bit funny at times. But if your not whiter than white then expect a bit back :yltype:

It now appears she's hopped on the bandwagon calling for their heads...got a book lined up for Christmas has she?

I'm sorry, but this is such a non-story it's laughable - the prim moral outrage is IMO misplaced considering there's much worse things to get knickers in a twist about

Who is she?
As to a none story i find it astounding at the lack of empathy at what must have been a awful experience for a elderly man, what ever his job.
I would love to see the response from many if it was in the context of a couple of drunken work mates doing the same onto your answer phone, also recording the message then blue toothing it to the rest of the office/factory.
Would it then be trival.
Lastly i also feel saddned that i have seen more passion and angst on these pages over the trival game of football then has been shown on this matter.
Now that i do find odd.
Oh don't forget that Brand has already in the past been sacked for being OTT,so it seems he simply does not give a toss

Lack of empathy? No

A world which has been aneasthetized to the suffering of others due to mass media hysteria? Yes

I don't deny that in this singular incident there was indeed emotional suffering to an elderly man

However in a world where 11 years olds carry guns and teenagers kill each other. Where emotionally frail teenagers joins pacts in order to commit suicide...like I said this is a non story...people were "hurt" by words but no-one died and we can all predict the outcome...

...Messrs Ross and Brand will prob be sacked but I doubt they'll care - they'll go on to bigger and better things.

Ms Baillie (a burlesque dancer BTW) will probably have a single out for Christmas after having done the Lads Mags circuit of photoshoots and calendars

And Mr Sachs will possibly experience a breif re-surgance on the interview circuit as well

Call me cyncial and un-caring? Just being a realist in a cynical world

All good points.
I simply feel that using the excuse there are worse things out there is not valid.
All examples need attention and solutions, that does not lessen the impact on those concerned.

inevitable with the media circus that's built up around it. just been listening to some very unhappy people that had travelled to see the recording of ross's chat show, some had come quite a distance, booked hotels etc, to be told 'tough'

maybe ross or the beeb should be made to refund their out of pocket expenses

still bothers me more that time was dedicated in parliament to debate this, yet the parents of Sophie Lancaster who at 16 was kicked to death in the park couldn't get a question in for prime ministers questioning over the crap sentence her killers were given

Suits me - it keeps Joey Barton out of the head lines ,and where did 18k come from to complain - this show goes out on a sat night and at best gets 50k in listeners (so radio 2 said) and they would`nt put any complaints in if they are regular listeners to Brand - i have to agree with wallsendo on this one , the lass involved will be counting her money and checking her diary dates for many interveiws - be a hoot if Ross invited her on his friday night show :eek:

its an updated version of a monty python gag ,that was slightly risque at best :red:

listened to five live today and lo and behold she now has no other than Max Clifford representing her "due to the unprecedented media interest" - i should imagine mr clifford does not offer services for free and can see a massive cash cow on the horizon.

disagree with upsetting an old man who ever he is.

disagree with the bbc allowing this to go out

disagree with her now clawing money out of it (she did sleep with him)

agree that action should be taken

disagree that they should be sacked

totally disagree with the band wagon that is hurtling towards the bbc about a mountain out of a mole hill.

absolutely agree i am bored with it all and this will be the last thing i type or discuss about the issue.

yawn

Quite agree but its the nature of the beast.
Anything aired via the media always seems to have more impotance then Joe publc asking the question

just been on news brand has quit the bbc
He saw what was coming and jumped before he was pushed.
Good.
Now lets have Wossy make a LARGE donation to a charity of Saches choice and as long as that is acceptable thats it .
The internal staff matter of the producer that signed off the show to be aired can be dealt with under the BBC staff rules.

marksworld
i know who he is. the point is i disagree with upsetting an old man whoever he is ie mr sachs or the old geezer down my road.

looking at the issue in general some of the points raised seem to indicate that morals have gone downwards over the years and as lowrider has pointed out more important matters are deemed of less importance. But is seems to me that the younger generation, and very worryingly seem to think this behaviou is quite acceptable. I remeber many moons ago when Billy Connolyy was first becoming known and was said to use one or two swear words. I went to see him at Whitley Bay Play House as having a few of his very funny tapes records, without expletives half expecting to walk out if the expletrives got to bad. He used the F word twice during the whole hour plus show, and in such a way that they where very funny. I don't watch him now simply because the F word takes over from the jokes. unfortunately, i don't find any of this new brand of comics funny (must be getting old) and if popele like Brand and Ross are being made into stars for our younger generation to look up to and emulate, then we as responsible adults should do something about it and tell the ones responsible it is not on. Keep the complaints going in.

I'm guessing you're not a fan of Chubby Brown then, Alan ?
