sales spam through this site !

hi mods and members ,
can any one tell me why i am getting sales spam from this site now please ?

i refer to an e-mail titles "giant tackle sale" sent from [email protected]

surely this would have been better as a thread in the sales section instead of an e-mail to members

You can opt out of recieving emails through edit options on your user cp page.
Hope that works ok for you.

i know i can opt out and i do but allow admin to email me in case of problems but i should not be getting adverts from site admin for sales at another site or shop
to me its an abuse of admin rights in any forum

This site is all ran by volunteers,giving there time freely.

The advertising probably goes a fraction of the way to paying for the up keep of the site.

Baz,

If you don't like it, you have two options:

1. Opt out of receiving the emails.
2. Let me know and I'll delete your account.

Most publications need some sort of income to keep them going. You're paying nothing to use this site, and have the option to opt out anyway, so I don't really see that there's any issue here.

That's the best thing to do, if it doesn't interest you. Alternatively, you have the option to stop them permanently in your control panel

With relation to this thread, bazw complained, was told that you can stop them and was still not happy. There is only one other thing we can do. I'd rather not delete someone's account, but I'm also not going to sit here and be told what I can and can't do with my own website.

Personally, I'd rather bazw blocked the emails and continued posting, but it's up to him.
