Sea Angler

After paying £3.45 for the new Sea Angler magazine i felt ripped off. a third of the 140+ pages are advertising and and another third are photos with very little text. there is also a lot about bass and boat fishing in the bits that are left. There is more advertising in Sea Angler then there is in the Metro paper and thats FREE. I just feel like it is getting worse and you are asked to pay through the nose for the privilege.

I stopped buying it a while back. Nothing but repeat articles and how to do the simplest of things. Wasn't worth opening the pages in the end so I stopped the subscription.

Used to think both of them were ok when first getting back into shore angling but now totally agree, just one big monthly repeat. Total waste of dosh. I'll only start buying them again if the shore catch and information reports increase dramatically.

same as me many years ago, think out the full mag i barely read say 5 pages and the rest were either ads or fishing for stuff you cant get round here

and the catch info is probably what they get off here and other similar sites. Yer paying to read what you've written:D

i remember looking through some old mags a few yrs ago and the catch reports where more or less the same as the year before sure they just changed the names of the anglers and added/subtracted a few lb off the catches

I read up till the bass n boat bit and put it down, Thats why i do buy them now

Yeah, it's become to general, fair enough a few pages on bass and boat angling but not half the mag. Nowt against boat anglers like but I think there is a mag called Boat Angler so any dedicated boat angler will buy the boat angler anyway, if that make sense.

Have been subscribing for a few years now but not renewing this year, has already been said very little about shore fishing in it now!

I was tempted to buy Sea Angler a month or two back but recalled the self same problems of repetition from my previous sea angling days( 20 odd years back and more), when exactly the same thing used to happen; same info, same articles etc. so I didn't waste my money.

It's the same with fresh water fishing literature.

Of course, what happens; is that as the techniques and tackle develop, they only trickle through to the wider world quite slowly. So we end up reading the same old tripe, time and time and time again, with the odd little more interesting tit bit chucked in now and then.

The thing is these days; you don't have to rely on waiting for a magazine to come out every month, hoping you will find something interesting in it.
You simply fire up the pc and away you go:yltype:

Mind you, a magazine is ideal when you're sitting, having a break at work or whatever;)

cheers

Steve

its very rare i buy it now for the same reasons. Seems an obsession with bass and a boat section of no interest. Suppose it is sea angler rather than shore angler though:rolleyes:

Agree with every word. Regarding shore angling. Its becoming rubbish, basically nothing regarding winter Cod fishing.

stopped my subscription.....would maybe get it if another half decent reel /decent freebie...but nothing to entice me at the moment...i just wish they would become more specific in terms of rigs and tactics..just very vague....

all true the magazine is rubbish now same old cobblers being repeated year in year out, and some of the rod testers dont have a clue, wouldnt pick it up if it was free:mad:
