SeaBait closure

Most of it got pulled down months back. Got a different name now. Don't know if its still producing worms like.

Don't they just rent their space though ?
Rent Seabait's space? If they have, theyve stripped all the building down aprt from the office section right at the front and took Seabaits sign down and put up their own
Looking at their website, it doesn't look like they actually do anything yet. They are just promoting the plant and grounds along with the powerstation's outflow water system.
Probably another government funded waste of taxpayers money...

did hear that they where supplying shrimp farms in the far east with pelletts etc for food, but instead of stopping delivery when the guy didn't pay, they kept sending them, hoping he would pay. Do not take this as gospel, it may just be rumour.

Sea Bait

Sea Bait

I have just recently had a tour of the new Marine research laboratory Astec on the old sea bait site as part of my role on the IFCA. Sea Bait had been renting the space from Astec and only had some small containers in the yard at the time , Astec did not did not seem keen to talk about them, I now know why.Just for your information this project was funded by One North East and others with a hope of making this part of Northumberland a centre for excellence for Marine Aquaculture, with the warm to almost hot water supply the laboratory is able culture things for most environments. They are fully licensed by Natural England and the general idea is all these mini labs are up for rent. They are about to launch this idea hence our visit.

There wasn't much sign of life on Sunday when we fished there. Kinda obvious now.
