i fished marsden beach in the open today. caught one whiten 35cm. not much caught around me, one lad had couple flatties next to me, nothing massive. it was a lovely day for fishing and i really enjoyed myself. i managed 15 casts, all lovely juicy numbers on punnel pullys 4/0. i was after one cod to the value of £600 and wasnt interesed in anything else. perhaps i should have tried elsewhere, was toying with whitburn all weekend, wish i had of gone there now doh!
its a cracking event, my first of a few more hopefully.
the situation with the disqualified guy has put a little dampner of the day unfortunately. the majority out there want to win fair and if they dont win they want a winner who deserves it. i only had the rule book for my information, the wording in there is a touch vague perhaps to one who doesnt do this comp regulalry. as i see it the pier was closed to the public today and according to the rules all who fished there and weighed in should be disqualified. it is irrelevant if the keyholder opened the gates for fisherman, it is still closed to the public. if there had been a prior arrangement to open the gates then this should have been noted within the rules.
my thoughts..the lad with the 9lber should have been given the title..
