Had a walk along the pier today both roker and shields, few fishing with the wind on there backs, seen coalie and odd plaice caught..no sigh of mackerel and 3 people fishing for them on shields and 2 on Roker...sea was really flat....did see a seal on the steps on shields chomping on a codling.

You MUST be bored Richy going for walks when you could be making up more rigs and pirks, ready for the 4 months of flat calm seas we are going to get :D:rolleyes:

Thats me trying to look on the bright side....

What time were you down Shields?? I was on for a couple of hours over high tide this afternoon and the sea was anything but flat, nasty chop on. Didn't catch owt or seen anything from the 3 lads that were having a go float fishing.
Two rows of bloody pots (or one with a dan either end) out across from the blocks right across the SE corner. Probably only 70-80yds so well within casting distance.
Also just like to comment that even though the hoards haven't decended yet that the end of the pier stinks of pi$$ (very very evident even in a very strong wind). God knows what it will smell like in a few weeks time if we don't get a few good rain showers.

Few years ago went down the steps at the end for a pi*s and there was a human turd waiting at the foot of them, turned around and went elsewhere. Fu*kin revolting, this was winter by the way.

years ago lads used to down as far as possible to have a wee wee so tide can wash it away, but now most only go a few steps down or the really lazy *******s do it on the top against lighthouse and thats off some of the regulars not the chavs, the chavs just make it a lot worse
