Was up Arbroath last Saturday to Sunday and seen loads well a thought a did, sure a seen a few last night anal could well just be my eyes like a say! Any ways fished the black middens last neet nowt to show for it just a hand full of rockling still got is out the house . Hopefully a can get back up Arbroath this weekend for a bit more sport with the easterly

Nah mate, not your eyes - I see a good few every time I'm out when it's clear. Also loads of satellites to be seen if you look for them; it can take a while to spot the first one but once you get the hang of it you start to notice loads - only on a clear night though as you say! Mind you, when the fish are biting hard I don't get much time to take much notice;)

I lost count after 12 last neet it was literally every 30 seconds/minute or so. wished for a big fish everytime but caught nout :-P nice sight tho

How do yourell the difference between satelites and stars ?

Satellites look like stars, but they track in an arc across the sky in only a couple of minutes (which stars don't do) - the meteors / shooting stars are much faster. Every now & again you might see what looks like a big star moving across the sky, which is the Space Station (you can check when it's going to be visible online). Also used to see the occasional "Iridium flare" from the Iridium satellites, but I haven't seen one of those for a while now.

seen some lovely coloured shooting stars when i fell a couple of weeks ago dont want to see them again ha.ha. davy.

Haha Davy - mind you, if you saw any last night it might have been the Auroras - they're supposed to have been very active the last few nights, hoping I might get a glimpse tonight if it's clear.

Hahaha!!! Laff ozzy that wer my wishes two but nawt lol

haha..every time yas seen one I knew yas were wishing for fish so everytime i spotted one I cancelled ya orders before putting me own in. i probably wudo had more fish but a wasted a few wishing me fatha would stop casting over me line. i cudo wished he hadnt kicked me box over aswel but i didnt forsee it, anyway if i did i would have blanked like the rest o yer:D

Most of the time there Satalites burning in our atmosphere mate. I've seen odd few that had to be stars! Hope that helps :D

Nah, you've got that wrong, most "shooting stars!" are meteorites, small pieces of space debris, small as a pea. or a marble that burn up through friction as they enter the earths atmosphere.
Satellites look like moving stars, only visible while they are reflecting the light from the sun. The easiest way to spot them is, stare at one star for a while, and if there are any satellites in that area, you will see them moving in your peripheral vision.
God, I sound like a frickin geek:eek:
