ssp ambalonce

Was a bloke with his kid on Warkworth caught one on Sunday when we were there, luckily Jim spotted what it was and told him what to do. The bloke was actually touching it as well :o to get it off the hook.

aye its true!

i was on there with a mate fishing for plaice when the ambulance went past us.

kinda surprised he didnt take someones head off with the size of his trace  it had to have been 8ft long!! lol

we started on the end but soon moved after seeing some of the fancy casting!!!:mad2:

The thing is not to panic with a weever fish sting, there has only been one recorded death in the uk and that was in 1933 and was multiple stings and the victim possibly had underlying health problems.
Panic makes the sting worse, immerse the limb in as hot water as the victim can take (without scalding) and this should relieve the pain.
Then calmly take him/her to A&E

It is a very painful sting and pain can last up to 2 weeks, its always worth getting checked out incase one of the spines are still left in as these can cause infection - hope this helps

the thing is there is no hot water on the end of a pier as the sting swells up within 10 minutes,a lot of anglers carry antiseptic wipes in there boxs so wrap up in one ,if gets worse go to a/e,been stung three times showing r/m that there not tiny whiting, the swelling went down after half hour, its the same as bees and wasp stings some people suffer moe than others.davy.
