tadpole update !

Tadpoleman

Well-known member
a few weeks ago go a letter from NFSA saying that they had passed my photo over to the natural history museum for identification ! and the Head fish curator said it was a tadpole fish but needed to make sure it was by examining its dorsal fin !!!!!
The NSFA asked if i still had the specimen and if not then they can`t accept my claim !
LUCKY i still had it in deep freeze (lesson to all )
I forwarded it on to London and last week spoke to the head curator and he confirmened what we already knew ! And asked if the museum could keep it as it was a fine specimen and will be pickled in alcohol and labled with my name a date of capture etc and placed in the museum next to specimens from Mr CHARLES DARWIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And if the record gets accepted the fish wont be the only thing that will be pickled in alcohol !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :)
ROLL ON just waiting now ................................

tadpole fish middleton pier

i read with intrest your thread and would like to tell you about a fishing session my son aged 10 and me had on the middleton pier last summer.joe my son was fishing for coalies down the side when he pulled up this fish. it weight was in the region of about 8to 10 ounces and was black with a large head and a tapered body similer to that of a small rockling.i did,t know what it was and nobody else on the pier did. we returned it back to the sea and when i got home i checked it out on the net and found out it was in fact a tadpole fish and i do belive they are quite rare
