Downing Street announced that Britain's first female prime minister would receive a ceremonial funeral, with gun carriage, military procession and a service at St Paul's Cathedral, in the style of the funerals of Diana, Princess of Wales at the tax payers expense. I don't think this is a worthy cause to spend our money.

So now my money is going to give this woman a good send off,
how about the rich lot that run the country have a whip round.
Or why dont we just sling her down a pit or in the tyne, wear or tees.
As now the ship building is non existent, she wont cause a problem when she bloats and floats !!
Im sorry if this offends, but this is my view on things.
Rot in hell maggie.

David Cameron has just sent his offical letter to the Thatcher residence.

It starts "I regret to inform you that due to recent events you now have too many bedrooms..."

go and bury yourself

absolutely no need for comments like that to a fellow nesa member. we at nesa are a community which i like to think can have differing oppinions without personal nastiness. some of the comments on mrs thatchers death are going well ott no matter what you thought of her policies, some people should hang their heads in shame at what has been posted.
i'll say again, although im a tory through and through there were some aspects of her leadership i strongly dissagreed with. but i admire someone who has unfaltering faith in there beliefs even if on some issues they are wrong.
RIP maggie.

Good for you. Nothing like having unfaltering faith in being wrong!

Loads of analogies on this and other message boards between mrs thatcher and people from history such as adolf hitler, what rubbish, they were dictators she was democratically elected THREE times by the people of this country, so this view that everyone hated her is twaddle, this country needs a strong leader and unfortunately since mrs thatcher we have had no one with real leadership qualities in power. I dissagreed strongly with some of her policies and strongly supported others, but one thing i do is admire her strength and self belief. If only we had a leader now with her personal integrity.

totally agree with you mate, I voted for her 3 times and still believe what she did was right a lot of people forget what a state this country was in when she first came to power.

ignorant man

ignorant man

so there is now 2 torries up here , and dont relate my mother to thatcher

I have never mentioned politics or your mother,i dont mind what you say about the living but i do think you cross a line after someone has died,a bit cowardly i would say.

Time for me to leave this thread before I get upset!

Don't get too personal guys please. The camaraderie on here is what sets us apart and above other sites.

Long may that continue :)

cowardly no way , if i had my own way i would of had a state funeral for her while she was alive

agreed mate.
don't understand why some people can't agree to dissagree, lets not get personal, as i stated in a previous post, lets not get into the personal insult thing, over the years i have seen certain message boards destroyed by similar.
we are all anglers from all walks of life and differing backgrounds.

Agreed Micky, no need for personal insults between forum members but I am certainly not surprised at the comments showing their revulsion for Thatcher, even if a few are a bit ott.
As for her funeral and the tributes, I will be completely ignoring them. I find the idea that some people are organizing parties a bit inappropriate and to be honest it creeps me out a bit. I've got to admit though, if she'd croaked 28 years ago I would definitely have joined the conga!
People are always going to disagree on politics, especially with such a controversial figure and I certainly disagree with your admiration for her especially as you are a working man who must have witnessed the misery her policies wreaked on this area.
