Would'nt take a chance on something that rats have been near, threw it back for the crabs and cried all the way back to the car.

Cannot see the point in fishing there if you have little to no chance of getting your fish. Bit of a waste of a very nice fish

Plenty of fish between 4lb and 9lb have been lifted by myself and others and i personally would not give it a second thought about fishing the same mark again knowing the same thing could happen again also.
Sless, 20lb line would possibly lift something under 20lbs in weight, IF: it were a straight lift and a dead weight (who knows) tell those doubters to try lifting something of that weight and see what happens, methinks they will sharp change their thoughts.

ianw i take it you only fish flat sandy beaches where the likely hood of loosing a fish is minimal, bet you have still lost baited hooks when casting, what happens to them. Oh you have fished rocky shores and what you have never lost a hooked fish in the rocks or kelp, better let us know how. Never fished a pier or a prom without a drop net and lifted many fish by hand balling up the side and never lost one, wow congrautlations or they must have all been small fish you have caught. To me Terry only had one option and that was to do what he did, as for lifting fish up cliffs, using light line you would prodably slice your hands open before the line snapped, even using heavy line the chances are the line would still snap 50lb breaking strain does not mean it will lift 50lb on a dead lift and remeber the fish at times will jump putting greater strain on the line. Even if the line was strong enough to lift the fish, chances are the hook would have ripped out. At least one thing in your favour ianw you have said what you thought in public.

Get a life, i suppose you've never lost a fish also.
Whenever you go fishing you can only hope for bites, in no way can you make only fish you will be able to land take your bait.
do you for one minute think i took pleasure in the wasteful killing of such a fish, you obviously do NOT know me otherwise you would not have made such a foolish remark.
And yes i will continue to fish these marks along with many other anglers, nothing you can say will deter me.
