yes much better at low water, sometimes get a few fish high water on a small tide at the north end

Both are probably better known as low tide beaches but there are high tide shots on both. At Whitley you've got the prom & boat station at the north end, as well as Little Bay & Watt's slope, both of which can be fished at HW, plus the Clock & Rex proms. At Tynemouth you can fish the Bottom of the stairs at high, but the only other HW shot would be off the old bathing pool at the south end (never fished it there myself mind). Half tide shot would be the hole next to the Bear's head rocks, fishing it before the rest of the LW shots get uncovered. There are a good few other HW shots around Cullercoats & King Edwards bay as well, but almost all of them need some good swells to produce - tend to be very hard going when it's flat.

thanks for advice people!!! when you say bottom of stairs g force do ya kean the stairs near the bathin pool or the stairs near the surf shop thanks!!! also wheres the boathouse in whitley mate?

Bottom of the Stairs is at the north end, going down from the top of the ramp - there's a bay between the Boiler Skeer to your right & Slatey to the left that you're chucking into. For the boat station at Whitley, park in the mini golf car park at the north end of the Links & walk straight down the path seaward down the ramp - be careful as it can get very slippy towards the bottom, especially when it gets frosty! The boat station is at the bottom and you can fish either to the left or the right. Don't fish straight in front as you'll be chucking straight onto the old railway and shallow ground in front of you. Be careful on bigger tides as you can get pushed up against the cliffs by any swells. I like to fish to the left, and if you do get pushed back you can fish from the bottom of the ramp (although it's none too comfortable).

You used to be able to scramble up and get around behind the boat house if fishing the right hand side, but I'm not sure if you still can…it was a handy escape route when fishing there if the swells got a bit naughty.

I've often thought about fishing off the back of the golf course on the cliffs. Might give it bash sometime when conditions are suitable.
