up date on what if anything being caught from tynemouth pier

One day, whiting, codling, coalfish, pollock, dabs, flounders, plaice. The next day, next to nothing. You can never tell when Tynemouth pier will fish, as a member of Tynemouth AC for many years and fished the pier a lot i used to reckon on it fishing well once every five years, although with the whiting increasing in numbers the last few years this has helped catches a lot.

alan/hedley,

is it possible to fish down the wall using a float, for coalfish or is it to rough.

Fishing tomorrow with Longbenton SAC - The Ronnie Houston Memorial Match - will post what goes down.

Just got in from fishing on the pier. Quite a few Whiting and a few Dabs caught. Some undersize Codling and a Pouting. Full report now posted on the Longbenton & Seaton Burn SAC Website.

[hedley.

fished at tynemouth pier today, finshed second in the match with 6 dabs and 1 plaice, winning bag winning bag was 2codling,3 dabs and 3 fish that i have never even heard of let alone seen caught they were horrible slimy things from a different planet i think??, the local lads called them hag fish.
i have now got 7 traces in my bag that need new hooks on them because of all the slim these creatures left on them ( couldnt hook them to save my life ) .
the match was fished to a 20 cms minimum size limit but all fish returned if they werent to national size limits.
most dabs around 25cms long best whiting was 31cms. a good day was had by all who fished and the weather stayed dry.
thanks for all advice from the website

if i was you i would throw the traces away cos once a hag fish has been on them thats all you will get on them
must leave some kind of scent or something

There has been loads of them this year, in the summer on the bg tides there was shoals of them being pushed around the pier end as the tide rushed in..horrible bloody things.
