"Meanwhile, a club which I am not going to name but which is from north of the Tyne, held a competition on South Shields Pier recently.

One of the members of this normally good club turned up at the weigh-in with over 70 mackerel where he was told he was only allowed to weigh-in six.

In response, this so-called angler threw all the fish into a litter-bin!"

Excellent advert for angling!!

that is just ridiculous, that bloke needs sorting out :@ no wonder the government wanna bring in licenses, damn well stupid man :@:@:@ tht bloke needs shot....

last year i caught 100+ mackerel, out of the hundred i took about 20+ and that was over the whole time the mackerel were there...that is just ridiculous :( what a waste of a fishes life , that could of gave a young bucking angler the chance to catch some decent mackerel, but 60+ go to waste only because that **** could only weigh in 7, he shud of been wise enough to no that the stupid prick :@

from north of the Tyne

thats what will get us a further bad name on our side of the river
i would name and shame the pr1ck if i knew who he was

huffy b'stard

Could be worse....he could have radared (dodgy word I think) 500 tons of mackerel and caught them in one go as seen tonight on the trawlermen. Makes me somewhat sympathetic with the seine netters

but not the chavs

Aye just watched that David :o £300k in one haul, in a few years they'll be saying they're skint and the government (tax payer) will compensating them to scrap the 12 million pound boat - that's a canny few angler's license fees.

What a shocking thread , this bloke is a disgrace and gives us all a bad name ,also along with the rest of you that watched Trawlermen tonight ,that's some boat just to catch mackeral although when you see the profit involved it's beyond belief.

ok i think the lad should be shot with shoite for not knowing the clubs rules but did the story need to go to press and make angling look bad ?

what a waste

what a waste

cant believe what ive just read. i havnt had chance to get ooout and get amonst the macky yet. wont be much point of trying when you have total disregard what a disgrace w----r shame on you.

Fair chance he has been kicked out of the club or he left of his own accord,i guess any mis-understandings at weigh ins are normally sorted "in house" without the press being tipped off about the finer detail, you can understand a trivial mis-understanding but to try and weigh that amount of fish in..................

i totally agree with what most have said but name and shame and put his face in the paper, dont you think its going a bit far!!!!, every day we hear the cry of name and shame him/her, sue him/her and its gone beyond human common sense, the lad has done something very bad for himself and his club, that is in my eyes enough. stick his name and face in the paper or around his local area he will end up in hospital because some other brain dead thug thinks it will be ok to give him a beating for doing what he did. he is no pervert, hasn't raped an old granny, abused children etc etc.

cheers

The guy is obviously not an experienced angler and not a long time member of any club. I reckon ignorance is the key player and I bet he was well pleased with himself and expected a prize or a few points to his name for his catch. I hope he's realised his mistake and learned from it but I wouldn't judge anything without "all" the facts
