i agree with most of whats been said above, i love the \"getting away from it all\" the peace and tranquillity, sometimes a good crack on with mates or sometimes strangers and on other occasions just being on my own miles away from everyone, just me nature and a rod and reel.
but it would be hypocritical of me to say the catching aspect doesn\'t matter it does. true i can have a great time fishing even when i blank but i enjoy it even more when i catch !
i do a lot more pike fishing than sea fishing now and my wife just can\'t comprehend what enjoyment i can get living in a bivvy miles away from the nearest human on a scottish lochside in the middle of winter for 4 or 5 days at a time, but i love it, nothing better than landing a nice big 20lber getting a couple of photos using the self timer on the camera, then returning her and see her power off into the depths, makes me feel very humble that such a wonderful creature has graced me with its pressence. however i must admit its getting to become an obsession, if i\'m not actually fishing i\'m daydreaming of big pike, suppose i\'m just a real sad b***ard, at least thats what our lass thinks.
