I want a continental beach rod is the entry level Yuki Blue Surf any use or should I wait for something better to turn up

I don't know about that particular rod but I've got the Yuki Pro Surf and its a quality bit of kit. Ive recently bought a Yuki Q6 aswell but havent had a chance to use it yet properly

In my personal opinion the Yuki Stone Surf is the best of the lower priced Yuki Rods retailing around the £140 mark its a rod that should command a price far higher, bite detection is excellent yet the rod can handle 6oz of lead and bait no problem.

I can second what lambtonworm says. I've got a stone surf and paired up with a decent fixed spool (mines a surfblaster 7000) it lets me chuck out a decent bait with little effort. The bite detection took a bit of getting used to. It looked like I got smashed by a monster but it turned out to be a half pound tommy. Best of all it still has enough backbone to play a fish. I haven't caught owt big on it (I never catch owt big anyway) but I'm sure it would handle it - I managed to drag half the seabed it with it!
