would it not be easier say practicing on a bit of copper pipe,even say a pencil?

Its best to use a rod tip to practice as a pencil / copper pipe doesn't tapper m8....

its grade a from rutherfords mate a could littrley just say see it were the blue was grade d from guides and blanks and a found that alot easyer

bit late now like but your better of sticking with "A" grade if you can m8 as I gives a much better finish........

First pic is C grade m8. Its a fair bit courser.


Second pic is A grade takes a little more putting on




but lies really nice....

That's much better it looks like you might of had to much tension on the blue under wraps but your getting there and once you've high built that it will look good make sure you burnish the threads so there's no gaps.

Spot on that really good keith A grade is actually stronger than the c grade as it is not the thickness with strength but the amount of turns but c and d easier to work with I use a on the small guides and d on the larger rings as it looks less bulky when high build goes on just my preference do what is best for yourself

cheers stan rod fell off the dryer so time to start again tip is done with no gaps in thread so think ill oder a better dryer if any one can rexomend a decent one for around 50 to 100

I've got a pacbay one which I find is fine I'd recommend those come with one roller stand.I've also got a couple of home made 240v ones which also work fine.

I wasn't struck on the fuji chuck there supposed to be very good but I just didn't like how the chuck worked so went with pacbay one.
