Bait sales ?????

I might be wrong but I believe the rule was added to help support local tackle shops especially those that have supported the site.

if anyone was selling bait on the site this wouldn't stop me using tackle shops it sort of contradicts itself you can buy a rod or a reel on the site so why not bait I honestly can't see it having any impact on any tackle shop simply because of demand can't remember how many times haven't been able to get bait esp when theres comps on

Sorry

Sorry

.think tackle shops take the p,charging £1 a crab.dont know where they buy them from, but haway.ps,who sponsers nesa now ?.ok i know theres alot of overheads, rent, wages, heating, vat,to name a few.possibly, possibly 75p may be a better price.not not not, knocking any tackle shops as i know theres a hell of alot us joe public dont know about.ever when we think we have bartered with them, thinking we have getting a bargain, they must still make a profit.goodluck to them.at the end of the day,we all use them.finally goodluck to all our local tackle shops.ps,sorry but my laptop somehow is stuck on capitals.

If you don't like paying £1.00 per crab then you know what the answer is surely? I don't personally know of any tackle shop owners driving around in Aston Martins or even fancy BM's. (dunno about Gerry's, Veals or Glasgow Angling Centre owners though)
Can people commercially sell fishing gear on here, new or otherwise? Same with bait I expect.

'For sale, 2nd hand mackarel, make me an offer'

Your not allowed to commercially sell anything on this site mate unless your in with the mods then you can sell what you like

I might if i was allowed, do you not sell stuff??

I do occasionally, as is my right as a member. Tell me, how "well in with the mods" do you have to be, to be banned twice and still be allowed to join for a third time!?

I don't know how well you would need to be in with the mods for a third membership fourth or fifth maybe 😜 but i am still not allowed to sell non fishing related items so they must favour you

I not posted a lot on here for a lot of years same as a lot but I do check in a lot the days when Elton owned it { but tony ran it are long gone } 7000 + members but only 800 active .

I never met up with a lot but you know what I did used to send cheques etc for lifeboat comps etc when tony ran it as it was a real site in my view back then but they most all gone now tony sless willywegg { don't know if I got last name right } norman from boat still on and still love reading his posts for the boats mick dunn still gives good posts and Charlton

But u could always offer bait back then

could I ask a mod to post as to why members can not offer to exchange bait for a small fee on here

might be the same as to why you cant sell a phone as it gets deleted as well, but it ok to sell a camera?
phone keeps you safe and it catches you fish pictures

I put up some cooking stuff once, bargain price...but I knew I was pushing it when I said it was for cooking fish and unsurprisingly it was removed.
I had no problem with that.

Moderating a forum is a thankless task, it really is. Most of the time they do get it right.
In my opinion this forum is actually under-moderated and for a few reasons I'd say NESA needs a few more mods.

As for the bait rule, that needs looking at.

Like it or lump it?

Like it or lump it?

I am a member on several different forums, most of which, require you not only to have a certain number of posts up but also pay anything from a fiver and in one case; a minimum of fifteen quid, before you can start selling anything at all.
If you want to sell stuff you've made, grown or collected specifically for sale; you're looking at a charge of £30 for the privilege of selling up to 8 separate items a month, then £60 for "unlimited sales" and a lot more than that if you're purely a seller.

That's on other sites.

On here:

There might be any number of reasons that bait sales are banned on here, I neither know nor care to be honest but ultimately (and I've been reminded of this several times elsewhere), it boils down to the fact that this and most other privately owned and run forums are not democracies, in other words, it matters not what the "members" think or want, if the person who actually owns the site says "no" you can either accept it or take a walk elsewhere, the normal response from most site owners is:

"if you don't like my rules, theres the door, you wont be missed!"

I can think of a few good reasons not to allow bait sales. I can also think of a few reasons for bait to be a legitimate sales item too.

It doesn't matter, I don't own the site but if I did, I'd run it as I saw fit and, as already stated above, anyone who disagreed with my policies, rules or attitude would have to put up with it or leave and not come back, or else they'd just be banned:)

There is absolutely no requirement on the part of the site owner to justify his/her/their policies or rules. By the same token, the so called "members" ( We are all really nothing more than "guests", even if we do pay a membership fee) have no rights to demand answers or to try to force changes to rules and regulations etc. You're not in "The Club" here, there is no "committee".

That's how almost all of these forums work.

-like it or lump it- it's : "My way or the highway"
