Like it or lump it?
I am a member on several different forums,
most of which, require you not only to have a certain number of posts up but also
pay anything from a fiver and in one case; a minimum of fifteen quid, before you can start selling
anything at all.
If you want to sell stuff you've made, grown or collected specifically for sale; you're looking at a charge of £30 for the privilege of selling up to 8 separate items a month, then £60 for "unlimited sales" and a lot more than that if you're purely a seller.
That's on other sites.
On here:
There
might be any number of reasons that bait sales are banned on here, I neither know nor care to be honest but ultimately (and I've been reminded of this several times elsewhere), it boils down to the fact that this and most other privately owned and run forums are not democracies, in
other words, it matters not what the "members" think or want, if the person who actually owns the site says "no" you can either accept it or take a walk elsewhere, the
normal response from most site owners is:
"if you don't like my rules, theres the door, you wont be missed!"
I can
think of a few good reasons
not to allow bait sales. I can also think of a few reasons for bait to be a legitimate sales item too.
It doesn't matter, I don't own the site but if I did, I'd run it as
I saw fit and, as already stated above, anyone who disagreed with my policies, rules or attitude would have to put up with it or leave and not come back, or else they'd just be banned
There is absolutely no requirement on the part of the site owner to justify his/her/their policies or rules. By the same token, the so called "members" ( We are all really nothing more than "guests", even if we do pay a membership fee) have no rights to demand answers or to try to force changes to rules and regulations etc. You're not in "The Club" here, there is no "committee".
That's how almost all of these forums work.
