fished blyth pier again today with my 8yr old and 3yr old boys. NEVER AGAIN LOL. The 3 yr old worked himself all day with his handline an caught nowt. I didnt do any better on two rods like but most of my day consisted of givin him wrong for climbing the railings. Havent blanked in a while so im not too bothered. The eight yr old got a small flounder and a granny fish which he was well pleased about but i cant shut him up now cos hes beat dad at fishing lol:eek: think next time the 3 yr old will be stayin with mam till hes a bit older. Pier was rammed today but only a few mackerel taken at the end and the fella next to us caught a crackin plaice probably the biggest ive seen taken from the pier:D cut the trip short due to the younguns behaviour and getting cross lined every cast:mad: but still an alright few hours out the house. Cheers alan.

the joys of parenthood, funny thing is the kids act up for my son, but when they are with gramps there is no problem, wonder why that is, I know you are always telling them off.

That sounds like very hard work mate, I don't think you would have been concentrating to much on yer fishing with the 3 year old with you. Hats off to the other one though for beating his dad:D and hard lines on the el blanko.

Unlucky with the blank but got to congratulate the bairn with his catches, shame the little fella ran riot lol another few years for him to be out fishing. Bet he will be out fishing you then aswell lol.

well done to the bairn for gettin fish. not enough kids taking it seriously these days. when i was a lad you couldn't move for kids on the pipe at whitley but they were all good fishermen and knew how to behave.

Took our lass to Blyth when I was mackereling when I fiirst met her. Worse than the kids, she caused havoc. Kept missing bites when the float went down, swinging rigs around so people had to duck and knocked a cap in the drink that half the pier had a go til they got it out. She didn't even have any cans or matches to start a fire :D

joking aside, you need eys in the back of your head, when I take the dog and the grandson, three year old to the nature reserve, as much as I like photography I never take camera, by the time I took a photo he could be in the water or fallen out a tree. When I take any of the grand kids fishing now I never take a rod for myself, anything could happen.

well now ive learned that alan the hard way lol. Think ill leave takin him for a bit. Next time will be on a beach where there shouldnt be as many hazards as the pier mate..

Well done to the oldest beaten his dad lol, your nerves must have been shattered taken 3yr old on pier,we all learn by our mistakes alan and like you said beach is safer, but still great taken kids out into fresh air.

been there done that got the staines on my t shirt my kids are older now but 2 grandsons are getting interested in fish (gold).

I was dead keen on fishing from a very early age, loved being on the piers and harbours with my dad. But my three lads haven't picked up the same bug, two of them are keen to a point - the point ends for one at just leaving the house, the other one about five minutes into the actual fishing when nothing's been caught. Best I've found is half an hour or so on a warm sunny day just catching tiny coalies and whiting over the side of a harbour with handlines/pound shop rods.
