Got most of the flounders & dabs during darkness throwing about 2/3rds of the way across directly towards the lighthouse - from your shot I reckon a lob of about 60 yards towards me on the west pier would have had you into the fish. I got the plaice later (about 6.15) along with a couple more flounders throwing out about 130 yards towards the mile marker.
I might have another look friday morning - just depends on the weather which at the moment looks a bit iffy; it needs to be good & glassy like this morning to get the plaice. Once it gets into mackerel season proper, I'll be breaking out the float and fishing back down the pier before the bend - it just gets too loony fishing on the end
Cheers, Gary
PS the mackerel were all caught close in (no more than 20 or 30 yards out) and were quite deep. Don't make the chav mistake of thinking you need to welly out your spinner as far as you can - more often than not the fish'll be almost at your feet.
BTW, all the flounders & plaice were caught on rag tipped with a scrap of mackerel, all the dabs took fresh crab.
