Fished cullercoats Tues 5th wed 6th Tues fished 4pm till 8pm from the beach in what can only be described as horrendous conditions rain coming in horizontal n hurting my face as it was hitting me and wind gusts so I could hardly stand but I managed 1 sized coalie and 2 codling both sized but biggest only 2lb but a result Wednesday I fished 3-8pm in slightly better conditions but the rain and wind were still brutal at times weed and debris were a nightmare but just when I was thinking about giving up I managed a fish of 3lb 10oz so well chuffed made the long journey on bus and metros seem bearable all fish came on lug n razor even though I tried rag blacks n cart

Was this from the beach at low tide straight down the middle ?

I've tried there with no luck on the end of the south side pier down the middle but not in January !

saw you a couple of times as I passed by in the car, should of fished to the left and cast up the edge of the rocks. It was still far to heavy even for the beach, saw you going into the water suppose to get a fish, wouldn't of channced that would of dragged fish up beach, the under current with that sea running would of had you out the bar in no time.

Can remember as a youngster being "dumped" by the old man, in wild weather, behind the North pier, casting as AC said, between the skeers and the little pipe that runs down the beach. It was never a good fish shot but there seemed to be plenty around the 2-3 lb mark and you'd often get a daft one when there was nothing from the south skeers. Was one of the few places to shelter from the wind.

I was only wading up to my knees at times mainly to cast out and only as the waves were going out as I new how dangerous it was for me to go any further as I fully understand the power of the under current but thanks for your concern and advice I fully agree
