going to get worse as north tyneside council propose to build a ramp at the haven for jet ski,s who they want shifted from cullercoats harbour, the clubs who fish the pier at weekends is going to be a nightmare for them.sorry to here about your misfortune dean hope you get your gear back.davy.

It'll be a nightmare on ss too as they'll come flying around the round end and up the seaward side of the pier towards the beach. It's bad enough now never mind when they build this. This is bad news:(

foaming at the mouth Just been fishing my match on shields pier was doing ok with 3 size fish then whilst peeling a crab I heard my rod scrape along the wall I tried to grab it but missed by a snot I looked down to see a little grey inflateable about 10yrds off the pier towing my rod I shouted at the bloke who did stop and kindly checked his prop before going off rang the port of tyne but nothing they can do I hope the driver of the boat sees this post as if I find you I will be making you eat through a straw nearly 500 quid of gear in the drink peed off isn't the word even thinkin of packing sea fishing in and taking up shooting again .

if you fancy going dinghy hunting deano give me a ring mate

Bloody hell I never heard of that one Dave! Is there any way to object to this proposal?
Deano, quite gutted for you. Think I would have made a jump for his boat if he was that close. It takes a while to build up your gear and to see it vanish in second would be hard to take.
I am gonna make a conscious effort to fish with the ratchet on more often.

This really anoys me. Why when you can see people fishing would you deliberatly head towards them or be in that close anyway. I fish the river a lot as its usaully easy fishing apart from the a holes who think they own the river. And the best part of it is they have been fishing themselves in their poxy little bath tubs ! It seems to be a source of great amusement for them to cut in at the last minute and when you ask for them move out your met with hand gestures and sniggering.

I wonder what they would think if someone damaged their boat when its berthed in the marina ? I imagine they wouldn't be happy ! So for all the boat owners out there use a bit of common sense man eh.

Deano I hope someone is lucky enough to drag your kit up for you mate, I know I would be like a man possesed if it was me.

there was a public meeting at tynemouth social club front st,but as usual there was not a lot of publicity for it ,don,t know what happened will find out on wed. davy.

Know exactly how you feel Deano, had a month old zippy pulled in and lost in the same manner. Lets hope yours turns up.
Seem to be loads of boaters out there who take great delight in veering across anglers lines on purpose.

Sorry to read about what happened, I hope some one gets it back for you.

Anyone deliberately doing that not only risks damaging your gear but also runs the real risk of getting line fouled around his prop.. That can damage the seals that keep water out the boat, or on an outboard which the rib probably had it keeps the oil in the gearbox and water out. Repairs to the engine could cost him as much as the loss of your gear that he’s caused. No one wins; any decent skipper will go out of his way to avoid causing hassle like that.
It can be difficult to see a line when you’re on a boat, you’re looking out for other boats, stuff floating in the water, trying to keep to the right part of the channel and occasionally suffering from glare off the windscreen and water.

Sorry to read about what happened; if the lad in the boat did it deliberately he deserves to get lamped.

10 yards off the peir tho mate, common sense has to come into mind.

Absolutely gutted for you mate. What goes around comes around, hopefully the p***ks boat will find itself on the seabed.

Gutted for you mate, I've had a few near misses myself and a jet ski went into my line nearly look the blokes ear off, the lifeboat at 1 o'clock in the morning didnt her him coming with my hat on and hood up in a winters gale and also a Kayaker last year on a sunny day luckly managed to hang onto the rod each time.

really sorry to hear you losing your gear. I have a boat now but shore fished for years so always respect the shore guys and give pleanty of space when coming out and in between the piers. we go out from the Tyne I know its a long shot but if we were so lucky to hook into your gear Ill be staright on the phone to you mate

I'm afraid your wrong there matey,as I boat owner and user I know props are a costly doo,and no one in there right mind would risk replacing one for a quick giggle at someone's misfortune of losing there rod,I do feel for anyone who has lost there tackle like that, but to be fair the boat owner is well within in his rights to go close to the pier, even pull up and jump on land, and most of the piers around our coastline ban fishing, including my local(south shields)the authorities just turn a blind eye to it,so who is really at wrong:confused::cool:

Listen mate there is no ban on sheilds peir its a public pier and as for you saying you can come as close as you want this isn't the case I too also used to own a boat just because you have a boat it doesnt mean you own the sea and can do as you please also 18lb mono isn't going to cost a new prop
