theres lots of names that regularly crop up in open and match results around the UK but who in your own opinion would you class as the greatest and why ?

Mad Rob gets my vote as well. As a species hunter he is second to none,he targets a species and catches it while enthusiastically working his way through a tray of Carling. Also he is very humble, never mentioning that he has caught a particular fish. He caught a turbot today and it was never mentioned.

Much:D:D:D

Maybe not an all time great but Phil Gee taught me everything I know. Another very helpful and accomplished angler would have to be Dave hayley.

I will 2nd that Davey is a top bloke and a brilliant fisherman, there is very little he knows and has been catch fish for years. taught me a lot about local marks and even as far as west coast and st abbs. he is always happy to pass on any info he has

top bloke and great fisherman.

also probably worth mentioning chris stringer also been at the top of the pile for years and still winning comps now.

Gary pye has to be uo there on my eyes gets fish when no one else does knows marks like the back of his hand and will help you about were and when to fish even to the point of what bait to use

chris stringer and tony taylor have to be two of the best, have won every thing there is to win and both still catching and winning opens, tony beats me hands down when we fish the krinklys matchs, what can you say about chris here there and every where to win another open and a pensioner now.. davy.

cannot name on this one as i think it unfair to other anglers.one thing for sure i believe we have quite a number of top notch anglers maybe more in the north east than other parts of the country far too many to name.
