Can just imagine a chapter in the book......."pitched the shelter just to the north of the flat skeer in the Goatsies........Jim said the reception on broadband was excellent.......Rod kept dodging in telling the wife he hadn't drowned yet.............Charlton kept up a commentary on the number of people being sick over the bank top from the Queens Arms......Willie said it was a braw set up for lighting his fags (sorry if you're reading this lol) .........the chavs found it useful for keeping their cans of Stella cool.......Stores was well into the fish but there were no pictures as it was difficult getting out of your sleeping bag to capture the moment.........

I think the whole beach shelter thing is a bit of an alien concept around these parts

Would be fine on a steep shingle beach - but on Blyth, Tynemouth, Whitley, Cambois etc etc you'd have to pitch it at the high tide mark so not very convenient

I've got one use it always, mine takes less that 30sec to put
up but only good for one person.Its the John Holden triton shelter or fondly
known as a walk-on-by.
It got called this one night on Lynemouth in a northeastly sleet and snow
-15deg when my mates turned up and looked inside the shelter,I was busy boiling up some nice hot soup on the colman but I'm afraid they just had to walk on by.
Had the tilly lit just to give off a little heat , pebble on the top to warm
the hands as well.
Don't knock it if you've never tried it.
Its a canny kit to carry but well well worth it.

I agree, I only use mine when I'm away and fishing those sort of venues on pegged matches. It keeps the rain and sun etc off your gear and helps keep your bait in good condition. Fish a five or six hour match on a flattish beach and they are really a waste of time. Handy on a busy beach when you're bursting though

nowt worse than standing or sitting on a box when you could be under cover, just needs to be the right venue
