Lure Fishing Challenge 2012

Just read the Barry thread with intrest,
where i learnt to fish as a kid, my first ever fish a whiting came out of there

was at cresswell sunday but to much swell to get the spinning gear out
have gulp rag and firetails ready, along with a selection of plugs, spoons and jigheads, including some 1 oz monsters for use with jellies to try and grab a bass out of the surf at druiridge bay, heading up again on friday to have another try

well, ive been lookin forward to this challenge, bought al my gear, jig moulds, new rods etc,and in 1 fell swoop,im 6 weeks behind, fractured thumb at weekend,my luck,i could fall in a barrel of breasts and come oot sucking my thumb, lol

Well this week I've packed away what I'll laughingly call my Cod gear - YT gear is much nearer the mark, and raked the spinning gear out.

I've cobbled together enough for my first plodge. Flounder the weekend target, with a weighted jig-head and some plastics I think. Anyone managed to catch one using this method? If that fails (highly likely I think) then out comes the gulp ragworms.

Do these count as lures or are they considered bait?

lures in my book mate. Never managed a flounder yet but I'll be giving it a go. Just need the sea to calm down and clear again.

Well had a disappointing trip to duns castle only managed a underside Coley will post pic and table later. That's me now for atleast a month, babys due anytime now.

Nice one lads, running away with it atm Scotty, congrats and good luck with the new arrival Phil. There is a plus side to taking the youngun for a walk in the pram, spinning rod fits under pram walk to pier etc puts baby to sleep = fishing time. :D

Congratulations on the littleun Phill. I fished Craster the day before you were at Dunstanborough and blanked. Mind I was only there an hour and half and the water was pretty murky.
