Just got back from jackies beach.......Blank for me and me mate. Had another mate fishing the shelf at marsden and lad next to him had a decent fish around 7 and half lb on me mates scales but there out a bit so i reckon that fish would be closer to 9lb. Was hard going today with strong winds earlier but eased off around 2ish and got really cold. Well done to all the lads who took part and very well done to the winner!! :)

Been wandering around Marsden and Leas trying to learn some marks. There was talk of a 7 1/2 and a 6 from the black path area. Saw a few smaller fish caught from near Souter and one lad had a 2lb+ wrasse. Which I understand won't count.

2lb wrasse sounds interesting, was that around Souter as well?

winning fish was a cracker just two huge filletts off it, went for me normal winter supply of whiting hardly any caught only got six, had to take some codling, thanks lads

I havent been fishing much or keeping track but haev the whities even arrived yet?

Strange they dont seem to be there in any numbers yet like

There were 2 wrasse caught at souter today both about the 2lb mark. Was it the guys with the brolly up that you spoke to on the very point of souter magpies? If so then i was just to the north of them under the other brolly the other wrasse was caught to the left of me, they also had a nice codling of about 5lb. Hard work in that wind today.

bugger eh.... bet you were so looking forward to the whities too

I was mate, I find codling quite bland at times, although I still munch it down with a nice bread crumb coating or tempura batter, but whiting deheaded and gutted baked in oven with some herbs/garlic briliant or blocked covered in flour and cooked on grill plate delicious. Got to have variety.

aye jamie mate i fished the groyne and it was hard work loads of undersized stuff . Lenny rundle junior won the heaviest fish mate 7lb 10 oz i think

[/IMG]that's my wrasse that was caught at Souter it's was as Jamie says 2lb + but a quick pic and he went straight back as I knew its a species that's not allowed but well done to my mate Leonard rundle keeping that trophy shields

yeh fished me usual spot at marsden.
hard going, as i expected:)

was hopeful to get on the pier but watchman made decision early on.
shame he said a few cod come off there last night.

might be wrong but am sure i saw a group of anglers get cut off on camels island. anyone hear out? must of waited for the tide to go back out

another local lad does the biz in the open again! I heard he had one but the sizes ranged from 6lb to 7.5lb so wasnt sure. Forecast not looking favourable to use up my bait either.
