never had a proper one for about twenty years or more
yes the goods uns seemed to stop when they barred fishing from the top of north shields ferry landing, was there one sunday fishing rubber company when chris stringer and tony taylor came down and chris emptied his FISHING BASKET with what appeared loads of filled fish (think there were 33cod up 3--4lb , got talking to him and he told they came down every year bout this time in march dusk and dawn just before peeler cameon in river , and they hammered the fish with frozen crab, well with being new to the game and only fish once a week for a few hours on sunday i never got round to getting as not drive then and relied on ferry which not start till 10am an finished at 6pm, so promised my self to pass driving test and and get over there on year which i did , so a few year later got over there bout 5am with a load of frozen crab however was not therr long when i heard gates rattle , and some one climbing over any by time 1/2 hour had gone by there was 13 anglers fishing off an area no bigger than 2 squares yards it was a night mare so i never really got the chance to fish it as the following year is when the gate was made bigger and it was and ther was no way i could get over it therest of the tyne pretty well but the way told the ferry landin was was the ultimte fishing spot in tyne for the spring run

yes all that area was very good ferry landing been the hot spot but rubber plant and fish quay was also very good.whats it all coming to this fishing more and more marks been took away from us more and more people fishing with less fish about its all bananas to me.
the reason ferry land was taken from the anglers was for the amount of rubbish that was left there and it was not from the casual angers
there also a spot next ice house where there was pub only yards form the mark, a big fence was put up so it was not possible to cast same as davey bank as wallsend lost because of mess
