posted on 18/10/2004 at 20:29Fished Pier last night 7.30 till 12.30. Started at the rail end with the intention of moving along to the end as the tide dropped. Absolutely loads of whiting about at rail end so ended up just staying there. Practically a fish a cast. Ended the night with well over 20 fish. Kept 3, including one belter at 2lb3oz - biggest whiting I've caught by a long way. Bait was lug/rag tipped off with squid.
The small whiting that have been around for while now seem to be getting a bit bigger as of all the fish caught there was only a couple that I would have classed as scabby littlins. Lots of fish around the 12" mark.
