Couldn't resist a try last night cos the sea looked lively...... Only had mussel and squid..... Cast around Boiler Hole, Stoney Bottom and the Bottom of the Stairs as the tide ebbed.... Managed a coalie 32cm and my first codling, bang on size but too small to keep. Luckily, it wasn't too deeply hooked and went back strong to grow big

Thanks lads..... Just wanted to point out that I meant first cod of the winter, not first EVER. I'm bad, but not that bad... (had about 10 in 20years!)
