i have a robin reliant engine based trike. it was running fine after buying it then later on saturday afternoon it started to misfire, had it in at garage, carb stripped and cleaned, all fuel lines checked, new petrol filter, new leads, distributer seems ok and is on tight, plugs are good. took it home last night same again, hic, hic, not good running at all, the garage is gonna take it back and have another look but has any of you car people have any idea?. my only thought is that the timming is out but why would it run most of the day on saturday then start its hicup session all of a sudden?

Check for cracks in the distrubutor cap.
Possibly a cracked wire, did it rain when you were out,if so dry and wd40 all the electrics.
Best idea is go through it all logically.
Check the sparks,colour strentgh etc.
Look at the fuel, did you fill the tank after buying it?
Could be water in the tank.
Also check if there is a in tank filter, that could be blocking with crap.
So many options,if you get no where give me a shout.
If i cannot sort it i have plenty of mates with Trike knowledge.

distributer cap new
all wires covered and new distibuter leads (no rain)
new plugs
tank hs been sorted all fuel system cleaned and carb cleaned and sorted
new fuel filter fitted
had a quick look this morning and noticed that one of the distributer leads was not fully pushed down, haven't had it out for a run yet but maybe thats all thats causing it, doubt it but you never know.
thanks paul

just had a check of the points and condencer, taken them off and changed for new parts. the lad in the shop said that the points belong in a coffin. i hope this has been the problem. next job is to change the wheel bearing. my mate who works the hill owes me a favour so he is gonna do it for nowt. fingers crosse that there is nothing else lol, i doubt it though its a reliant :):):)

Must admit, not my fav motor for a trike.
Much prefer VW,drop an engine in 15 mins and the 1600 motors.
Then again my mates V12 jag was far more interesting.

well i got it sorted, put a new set of points in set the gap 0.25 and fired up, with having the card cleaned tick over and running spot on. next me mate has taken the wheel away to fit new bearings then my other mate is sorting out some new spacers. nearly there:):)
