what rod will you not part with even thou its past its sell by date:D mine is an old daiwa wkt 13 foot whisker i bought second hand at the back end of the 80s. still use it now in the river :) i belive the greys apollo mark 1 was modeled on them:D

A Hardy Victor beachcaster from about 1980 probably my most expensive rod lol. £88:00 would probably equate to quite a bit now

Zziplex Pro-am match and Pateke Morton Tony Taylor.

peteke morton never thought i would hear that name again, lol they become century did they not??? lol i might stand corrected on that one thou:) wonder if mr taylor made any money out of it lol dont think many people have had rods named after them unless you are a greek god or something:)

Lol Davy, 8 very canny nights out with taxi's included mate.

I also bought a Shakespeare Sigma Graphite just after that for £80:00 one of the best casting rods I have ever used. It was amazing especially as it was a three piece rod. When i moved house the end piece was damaged and I had it repaired losing about six inches. it still performed well but not quite as good. I would never part with that one either and still occasionally use it. Not nearly as sloppy as the Hardy though which has been hung up on the outhouse wall for years lol.

I might just try it again when I am able, just for a laugh lol.

diawa moonraker bought it second hand a few years ago first rod i ever bought probably worth a fiver now if that :D

:o My first decent rod was also a Daiwa Carbon Moonraker 12ft, bought from Temples 15 odd years ago cost £55 - I matched it up with a Shimano Aerlex GT8000 FPU also £55 (I'm sure it was a combo' reccommended by Sea Angler at the time too:D)...was still using the rod and reel up until last week :o;)...it's still in very good nick...Gregg even asked me if it was "new" LOL

My first ever rod was a DAM Fibreglass 12ft Beachaster type jobby...still got it, even though it's a complete pile

Still got my Abu Atlantic 484 Zoom + the abu Ambassador 9000 and the 10.000 reels.
Cracking gear in their time, 1970's.

Slighty different to todays gear Red Rock:)

They still caught plenty of fish, YET, there were plenty of fish around in the seventies, not like the present time :(
